This concise volume attempts to present some of the attitudes and findings of psychiatry to the layman. It is the product of a psychiatrist and a writer both well known in their respective fields of endeavor. Psychiatry has suffered from two varieties of mistreatment during the past ten years. As presented by its specialists it has been too often oversimplified for public consumption and just as frequently over-complexified for the edification of the medical profession. It is to be hoped that this book will serve the purpose for which it is intended more adequately than many others that have been flooding the book marts in recent years. The text is very readable and contains information that will be helpful to many people.
