This is the sixth volume of the Menninger Foundation Monograph Series. The material reported was collected in the Menninger Foundation. The author was an associate psychologist in this clinic; at present he is staff psychologist in the Austen Riggs Foundation. Textbooks for the use of clinical psychologists are increasing rapidly. The specific merit of this book is the faithful reproduction of all test findings in ten cases studied extensively and in ten cases examined with a smaller number of tests. The complete battery of tests contained the Wechsler-Bellevue Intelligence Scale, a memory test, a word association test, a sorting test of concept formation, the Thematic Apperception Test, and the Rorschach method. The conclusions drawn from each test are given. A clinical summary follows every test. Among the twenty subjects are neurotics, schizophrenics, one psychopath, and two normal subjects. In the remaining one-fourth of the text, the author summarizes the most frequent test signs which are helpful as diagnostic aids in the differentiation between a schizophrenic psychosis and a neurosis. The author's main purpose was to demonstrate the use of the tests in differential diagnosis.
