A reader informs us that in the book review of Major Satya Nand's book, (April, 1949 Issue), “The Objective Method of Dream Interpretation,” mention is made that Major Nand is a member of the Indian Psychoanalytic Society, but that this is an error. The following appears on the title page of the book:
Major Satya Nand, M.B.B.S., I.M.S. (RLD). P.C.M.S. Assistant Professor, Physiology, Medical College, Amritsar (Pn). Recently Psychiatrist, Northern Command, in the Army. Recognized Psychiatrist, for Selection Boards for Officers, and in Forward Areas and In Charge of Training Centre for Army Psychiatrists. Member of the Indian Psychological Association (Calcutta). In 1934-36, Student-analysis and studied Psychoanalysis from Lt.-Colonel Berkley-Hill, I. M. S. A member of the Indian Psychoanalytical Society. A member of the Indian Psychiatric Society (Ranchi). In 1942, Honorary Psychiatrist, Mayo Hospital, Lahore. Formerly, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Punjab Mental Hospital. In 1932, as postgraduate student of Pathology, and as Physician, Infectious Diseases Hospitals, Lahore, the author of, The Physico-Chemical Theory of the Internal Defence of Animals, Immunity, Hypersensitiveness, etc.
On closer examination it would appear that Major Nand was stating that Lt.-Col. Berkley-Hill was the member of the Indian Psychoanalytic Society.
