The study of psychology is a study about which everyone has an opinion. Unfortunately, even the uninitiated, those with no previous training
or study at all, enter the study of abnormal psychology with preconceived notions. Therefore, the professor's or author's task is to set forth distinct, simple definitions and explanations, to lead the student from one classification to another in a logical fashion so that much of the mystery surrounding the subject may be eliminated. The authors have accomplished this in their book.
As a text for a beginner in the study it is excellent. The material is divided into five sections which may be treated as units and will prove of much value to the student.
Although many may find this volume much to simply written for college level students and object that the student is being pampered by the elimination of much ontogenetic and phylogenetic matter, nevertheless, the ease with which a student can master this material and so obtain a sound background, will outweigh any objections raised.
The categories are treated adequately without any abrupt demarcations, enabling the student to gain the impressions that much abnormal behavior differs from normal action in degree and not so much in kind.
