This mimeographed edition is written admittedly only for those who have had a previous acquaintance with the Rorschach test and Klopfer's scoring system and represents an attempt to quantify the Rorschach technique. As such, it is of interest primarily to specialists in this field who will be able to evaluate its results and place it in accurate perspective in the general field of Rorschach diagnoses.
In the Rorschach field interpretive methologies range from those who utilize almost no scoring at all to the present work which relies heavily upon the accuracy of scoring and the statistical validation of the results achieved. The authors allege that “their basic Rorschach score has demonstrated its discriminating power in separating clinical groups with statistical accuracy. This scoring plan has also shown evidence of possessing a closely related ability, that of placing the groups measured in an appropriate rank order which agrees very well with clinical judgment concerning the seriousness of the personality disturbance represented.” Four ranks are indicated: level I represents essentially variations of normality; level II represents neurotics; III contains depressions, manics, alcoholics and non-psychotic organics; tnd IV, schizophrenic categories. Exclusion of diagnoses is an important step in the summarization of a specific diagnosis, a point which has been emphasized in the Rorschach literature since 1940. The check list is certainly of some interest to experts and the statistical validation, so far as it
