This volume is subtitled, An Anthology on the Religious Way: Chosen from Psychological, Religious, Philosophical and Biographical Sources. The work is the result of the efforts of a number of compilers. The title is from a line of Aldous Huxley's. The volume has as its central theme “a Way which all men seek, few find, few enter, and still fewer progressively follow, though it proffers the means by which man's most fundamental longing can be realized.” It is said, “In spite of the wide variance and diversity in expression, significant agreements were discovered in the writing and recorded sayings from men of all ages and all religions.” The volume is divided into three parts, The Way, The Techniques, The Outcomes. The author index contains about 175 names.
