This is a compilation of twenty articles by thirteen writers on a wide selection of psychosomatic, medical and surgical conditions. The editor, Dr. Charles W. Wahl (who contributed five of the papers), and his fellow authors are on the staff of the Psychiatry Department at U.C.L.A. Medical School. Fifteen of the chapters have not been previously published.

In his preface, Dr. Wahl gives a thoughtful treatise on the broadening scope of the new dimensions in psychosomatic medicine.
