This book is based on a taped interview of Dr. Wilhelm Reich by Dr. Kurt R. Eissler in 1952. It also includes correspondence and excerpts from Reich's writings and archives.
The object of the book, according to the editors, is to clarify the relationship between Reich and Freud and to show that Reich did not deviate from basic Freudian concepts in the development of his biologically oriented analytic approach. If this is so, then it is necessary to demonstrate that the break between Reich and the Psychoanalytic Movement was due to the inability of the analysts to follow Reich's development and their subsequent hostility to him because of this. The book attempts to provide such evidence.
Reich speaks of Freud with affection and respect. His comments about the men around Freud are generally less than favorable. Reich feels that Freud understood and approved the direction of his work
