I am honored to have been selected as the Editor of The Psychoanalytic Review.
The Psychoanalytic Review has a distinguished history, going back to 1913, making it both the first American psychoanalytic journal and the oldest continuously published psychoanalytic journal in the world.* I am aware of the responsibility in guiding the continuing development of this prestigious publication, which beginning this year has become prominent in psychoanalytic cyberspace as well. The multiple prospect of working with the editorial board to develop and publish papers that advance our profession's body of knowledge and therapeutic disciple, while moving the Review forward as a part of the mix of leading American and international psychoanalytic journals, is very exciting. The Review's participation in Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEP) brings the journal worldwide visibility and easy accessibility. With this comes the likelihood of an increasing number of submissions of quality papers and an opportunity for increased internationalization.
The continuing commitment to publish high quality papers from new as well as established authors will be my first priority. I envision lucid contributions covering clinical, theoretical, educational, research, and multi- and interdisciplinary as well as applied studies that are of scholarly quality which facilitate a comprehensive, unifying psychoanalytic identity. Differing and conflicting perspectives are a necessary part of this overall development. Hopefully readers will find incremental contributions
