Leopold Meyler was one of the first physicians to study adverse drug reactions, which he had himself experienced after treatment for tuberculosis, contracted during WWII. He published his findings, first in Dutch, next in English, with Elsevier Publishing Company.
The current volume, edited by J.K. Aranson, is remarkable for both its content and its organization. It features clinical case reports, and is thoroughly cross-referenced with such categories as pregnancy, long term and second-generation effects. There is also a section devoted to non-psychoactive drugs, such as antihistamines, aspartame, hormone replacement therapy, insulin, etc.
This book is a fine addition to the therapeutic practioner's library.
