This brief reminiscence discusses the changes in both the Review and psychoanalysis during the author's editorship. With victory in the lawsuit against the American Psychoanalytic Association, an opening to new ideas and new journals came about. This led simultaneously to increased competition among the journals as well as increased cooperation. What this resulted in was an expansion in the number of yearly issues of the Review as well as its becoming a venue for contributors who previously had not published there. It also eventuated in an emphasis on the historical tendency of the Review to publish special issues.
