Anna Aragno, PhD, Italian born, was educated in England and came to New York on a Fulbright in the 1960s. With a background in the arts and humanities and fluent in five languages, she resumed academic studies in the 1980s after an international career as a freelance prima ballerina. She is the author of Symbolization: Proposing a Developmental Paradigm for a New Psychoanalytic Theory of Mind , and Forms of Knowledge: A Psychoanalytic Study of Human Communication , as well as many scholarly papers. Nominated for the Goethe Award in 2009, her paper, “Silent Cries, Dancing Tears: The Metapsychology of Art Revisited/Revised,” 2011, was selected as a Centennial Paper by the American Psychoanalytic Association. She divides her time between a private practice in New York City, and scholarly writings and presentations, with a strong focus on metapsychological revisions.
