The etiology of Delusional Disorder is not well understood and could even be characterized as unknown. The intersection of childhood abuse, trauma and socio-economic factors in the causation of Delusional Disorder has not been acknowledged. Examining the impact of social media can lead to a theoretical reconsideration of Delusional Disorder as a paradoxical search for psychological acceptance through the formation of a pseudocommunity.
