The intense feelings and impulses of the mother and the baby, trig- gered by the breastfeeding, are reviewed in this article. The mother has to acquire a double sided role during this process of nursing: on one hand she will fulfill the needs of the baby, and on the other, she will arouse the awakening of the impulsive processes. While assuming this flexible role, the man in her fantasies may become a shield against the stimulation of her own eroticism.
