Clinical experience shows how important transmission between generations during adolescence becomes problematic. It is necessary to accord more importance to consultations where the adolescent is received together with the other family members. The adolescence problematic has to be looked at within the structure of the whole family and the three generations that form the family. “Mr. Cevdet and his Sons”, which is a semiautobiographical novel of the 2006 Nobel Price winner Orhan Pamuk, written in 1982, tells the story of an Istanbul family over three generations. Taking the novel as a basis, the text focuses on the importance of inter-generational transmission within the family structure.
