Psychoanalysis since Sigmund Freud gave a lot of importance to arts, artistic creation and artists. Psychoanalysis doesn't possess the key of the creativity but contrarily the artistic creativity can illuminate some dark aspects of the human psyche. French psychoanalyst Joyce McDougall in her book “defense for a certain abnormality” proposes a very original approach to the understand the artistic creativity. At first, the artist has to discuss with his medium, and also with his presumed public. The two other factors are: the importance of the childhood sexuality and bisexual phantasms, their way of integration into his psyche. Another French psychoanalyst Vladimir Marinov examines the works of Constantin Brancusi, the pioneer of the modern sculpture. Brancusi had a very tumultuous adolescence crisis, because he lost his father a few years ago, and so he approved a big nostalgia for his childhood. For him, “the art is a perfect crime”, because the artist must kill his adulthood for returning to his childhood dreams.
