The author's discussion develops different points of view on the question of «mother as subject» related to psychoanalytical references which are different than those used by Anat. The components of the mother's investment of the child are questioned. The way mother is “dreaming” her baby includes the “primordial maternal solicitude” and allows her to take care of the fundamental needs of the baby. But motherhood belongs to femininity. In that way, the mother's fantasies around the baby, carries also unconscious messages that derive from her own infantile psychosexuality. Among those fantasies, the important presence of the father is stressed. The baby's birth specially awakes conflicts in relation with the mother, that will be particularly enacted with a woman analyst.
