In his papers written between 1910 and 1915, Sigmund Freud described the psychoanalytic setting and also the ethics of a psychoanalyst. The ethics of psychoanalysis especially concern psychoanalytic practice. The psychoanalyst must establish the psychoanalytic setting and protect it, refuse the medical and educative conceits and most importantly maintain neutrality. This is the basis of his ethics. One of Freud's most important disciples, Sandor Ferenczi, developed new techniques for difficult cases, wherein the classic technique was not sufficient. Ferenczi is a very important psychoanalyst and the importance of his contributions to psychoanalysis has become even more important in recent years. However, one of the major reasons for the failure of these new techniques proposed by him is his negligence of the psychoanalyst's ethics.
