In this article, one of the main aims is to discuss the relations between psychoanalysis, desire and ethics. Mainly, the fact that in psychoanalysis, the ethical issues reduce exclusively to professional settings and regulations. This is one of the most important dimension of psychoanalytic experience. On the other hand, we know that psychoanalysis is related to desire, not only to analysand's desire but also to analyst's desire. However, I have emphasized the good-old Freudian concept of the “superego”. Superego can represent socio-symbolic order and also intrapsychic economy. Therefore, I have argued that the superego is still an alive and effective concept in contemporary ethical debates. I've considered psychoanalytic ethics in reference to figures such as Kant, Alain Badiou and Lacan. In terms of clinical practice, I've mentioned the psyhoanalytic experience and the analyst-analysand relations. One interesting point that has been considered is the questions of why ethical issues are very popular and which socio-symbolic powers are provoking that debate.
