In his preface to Aichhorn's “Wayward Youth”, Sigmund Freud declares that none of the applications of psychoanalysis have ever drawn as much attention and raised as much hope as they have in its use in the education of children; thus gaining the interest of so many professionals. However, he also emphasizes that education is one of three impossible professions. Freud, although mentioning that education and psychoanalysis are distinctly separate fields, focuses on the importance and value of educators who have psychoanalytic knowledge. He also adds that this psychoanalytic formation should allow the pedagogue to apply psychoanalysis freely.
