Sigmund Freud situates psychoanalysis among three impossible professions, the other two correspond to education andadministration. In “The Analysis Terminable and Interminable”, Freud questions the dangers for a psychoanalyst to adopt the attitudes of educators and administrators in the application of psychoanalysis. Suggestion inherited from hypnosis and the rejection of femininity are the two causes of this danger. We should also add to these the danger of educating tendencies which flourish during the course of psychoanalytic training. In his preface to the first edition of August Aichorn's book, Freud declares that psychoanalysis has a lot to contribute to pedagogy; but that it is of special importance that they should be considered as two distinctly separate professions. Psychoanalysis, is not an institution as a school, nor is school apsychoanalyticinstitution.
