This article discusses patricide and matricide based on three clinical cases. These examples of acting-out should be separated from phantasies of incest and parenticide. Parenticide is in fact the murder of phantasy, it is the murder of parental object representations. The author first explains “ordinary paranoia of adolescence” by referring to other texts. The projective dimension of this defense mechanism in adolescence, is an answer to the pressure of the adolescent's own pubertal violence on his ego. It is important to address parenticide clinically to show the impulsive unbinding of relations that facilitate acting-out in adolescence. Acting-out can be understood as the adolescent's solution to this impulsive force that cannot be dealt otherwise. The act provides a possibility for discharge, which protects the ego from fragmentation.
