Envy and Its in Vicissitudes in Psychoanalytic Organizations in this paper I want to reflect, on the phenomenon of envy as it pertains to and unfolds in psychoanalytic institutions. To speak of envy in isolation may be misleading. Envy is undoubtedly a very deep and fundamental human emotion; it is part and parcel of the complexity of being human, perhaps of being alive. On one hand, we are speaking about an essentially individual feeling and response; yet on another, we want to explore a phenomenon that takes place at the level of the group and the organization. The unconscious conflictual play of idealization and de-idealization that rooted in envy and gratitude continues to color the training, and subsequently to permeate one's attitude to the institute, the society and the field.
