Freud states that the interpretation of dreams is the royal road to the unconscious. Although he makes very important determinations on dreams and the unconscious, he also admits that there is something which he cannot interpret or even define and entitles it as the core of dream. I guess for Freud, even if a piece of a dream that had been widely interpreted could remain in the dark and for Lacan even though parting from Freud who had said new things on human psyche, he still reached the boundary of the symbolic, namely the unspeakable, then these were not easily acceptable situations.
Maybe all this dissatisfaction; the uninterpretable core that Freud had faced while working through dreams, and the real -unable to be symbolized that Lacan encountered in his theory are the results of encountering the jouissance of the subjects that they had been working with as well as their own jouissance.
