This paper explores and compares the process of art and psyhoanalysis. The purpose of this article is not to discuss some art works from a psychoanalytic point of view, to make predictions or inferences about them or about the artist, but to continue listening to the connotations of these works with various psychoanalytic concepts, especially the concept of “frame” discussed by various theorists, especially Bleger, and the concept of “symbiosis”, which is the subject of this book. Various artistic productions especially the creative processes in Azade Köker's art works in the exhibition titled Dissolution and Italo Calvino's novel If on a Winter's Night a Traveler were listened to through various psychoanalytic concepts especially “frame” and “symbiosis”.
The analytic setting has a very important role at offering a frame that is a secure environment for playing and free association. There are many papers that are written on the function of the “analytic frame”. The author explore the construct from several frameworks by taking a fresh look at the psychoanalytic setting which is so familiar to us psychoanalysts. Within the limits of this article, the extensive literature on the term “analytic frame” will not be discussed in depth; rather, the creative process of the artist and the creative process of the analysis, which can be addressed through the frame, will be included by exemplifying some clinical examples.
