In this article, based on our experience of psychoanalytic work with people who have been subjected to torture and gross violations of human rights, we have tried to make an evaluation of the psychological effects of earthquake survivors. This evaluation was made on the basis of three images - a newspaper photograph, a dream as described by Freud and a scene of an analyst working with a patient. M. M'Uzan's conceptualizations based on his analytical work with dying patients, such as work of dying, libidinal expansion, an exaltation of the desire for relationships, a-personalisation, are discussed in order to enrich our understanding of the clinical conditions of traumatized persons. In addition, some clinical qualities that we think are relatively more specific to traumatic situations are included in this discussion and the possibility of creating a psychoanalytic clinic in widespread and mass social traumatic situations such as earthquakes is discussed.
