Dear Friends:
Now that we may speak openly about the projected Festschrift I may repeat my original criticism that dates of birthdays are a private affair and that it would be better, and I believe more agreeable to Prof., to date a Festschrift from such an event as the attainment of majority of Traumdeutung, which takes place in 1921. I do not know whether Prof. would agree with the statement that it was in 1900 that the true Psa began its public life; I am not sure, and should like to know, where the first mention of the term Psa. occurs.3 At the same time, I can sympathise, auf gleiche aetiologische Ansprüche, with Rank's Symptomhandlung4, for I knew that to write an article in the necessary time would mean to neglect definite other duties, as in his case, and it is perhaps an open question whether we have the necessary material to make a Festschrift of a kind that would be worthy of the occasion. If the other members doubt this, could they suggest some other mode of celebrating the occasion?
I regret the thickness of the paper, and could only read parts of Ferenczi's last letter. I suggest that Rank gets some more paper printed in Vienna, not so thick, but not too thin, with vignette, and the present stock of paper could be used otherwise, either by Flügel and myself in other letters, or by members.
Budapest.
Régis certainly died a few years ago. He was not very important for Psa, except for covering with his name Hesnard's book.5
