Dear Friends:
Can we not attain unity about our numbering? Jan. 1. 11. 21., Feb. 1. 11. 21. March 1 make 7, so that March 11 is 8.
MacCann of New York (a publisher) has just issued a new book by Prof. Freud entitled Dream Psychology, authorized translation by M.D. Eder2, so we have the very latest views. Eder, whom I asked, knows nothing of it. MacCann sent me a copy for review, and I see that the book is made up as follows: The first 77 pages are Eder's translation of Ueber den Traum, published before the war, and regrouped into three chapters instead of 13. Then follows, without a hint of a break, 160 pages taken from Brill's translation of the Traumdeutung. I have communicated with Heinemann3 and also Allen & Unwin, who have the rights of the proper two books. I should say that there is a preface by Tridon, who says that without the dream theory it would have been impossible for Jung, Adler, and Kempf4 to have made their wonderful discoveries, hence its importance: they have »brought the study of the unconscious into fields which Freud himself never dreamt of invading«. He, by the way, has just written two books on Ps-A, very wild, and makes there the interesting statement that the four great psychoanalysts of the world are Freud, Jung, Adler, and Kempf (of Washington).
It is a great regret to us that Eitingon was forced to return to Berlin from Paris direct. On Tuesday I received an inquiry from our Home Office about him, and I wrote a sharp letter saying that our firm had lost an important piece of business of the dilatory methods of our authorities.
Eder has just returned from a visit to Moscow. He says there is a great opportunity for Ps-A because the younger men are proving very open-minded
