Dear Friends:
Miss Turner, our only obstacle at the Brunswick Sq. Clinic, has offered to resign if a suitable substitute can be found. I was consulted and have agreed to the appointment of Mrs Brierley2, who being a lay analyst is acceptable to Miss T. and being at present in the analysis with Flügel and a prospective member of our society is acceptable to us and in full accord with our plans. This brings our hopes perceptibly nearer, for Glover, who by the way is being elected as a member of the society, should now have things in his own hands. The matter was discussed by our Council on Monday and the attitude was throughout favourable. In any case, however, no steps will be taken until after our meeting in September, when I will discuss it with the committee and also learn something about the details of the Berlin clinic from our friends there.
I have been asked to address the Birmingham Psychopathological Society at their first annual dinner next October, and will of course go.
Sir Phillip Sassoon3, who I regret to say is a Jew and therefore should have had more sense, has given a quarter of a million pounds sterling to found a hospital-clinic for research in psychotherapy, and has bought a mansion and park for the purpose in Kent. He placed the matter in the hand of a committee of the most antiquated and reactionary neurologists

Marjorie Brierley (1893-1984).
