Dear Friends:
All letters safely arrived. Flügel's book has come at last, and I have asked Róheim to review it. Books on Psa or allied topics pour out in England and you will see reviews of them in the J. in course of time. This week two excellent ones appeared by two of our Associate Members, Mitchell and Brierley. The one by Mitchell contains perhaps the best account of the consciousness problem and the nature of the unconscious that exists in any book of the kind. At the last meeting of the Society I read an account of Professor's new reviews on projection and paranoia, which found good comprehension.2 I am very pleased by the progress made by our members in both theory and practice. It has been very great and the couple of years taken in education has not been wasted. Even on the productive side there are signs of greater activity. Last week papers were read, by Dr Cole before a Literary Society in a London suburb (150 audience) and by Flügel at Leicester.
Miss Saxby3 (analysed by Rank), who is Lecturer at the University, Cardiff, held a meeting with the Welsh Porth group last week and they constituted themselves into a regular Society meeting every week at Cardiff, full of enthusiasm.
Berlin. Many thanks for the cuttings from the N.Y. Medical Journal. We exchange with the J, for the editor is very friendly to Psa and gives us good reviews.
Vienna. Both Zeitschriften arrived today. Could you recommend the Madrid firm to employ the Chilean physician for translation, as this would be done much better by someone with knowledge of the subject? I know Walter Liepman's work; he is an able and original fellow, though his political views deprive him of much influence in America. Please send Lou Salomé's address in Göttingen. Will you speak to Hiller about Harcourt, for he is just seeking an American agent for our books.
