Dear Friends:
Claparède is here this week lecturing at the London University, and I have seen something of him. He thinks of coming to the Congress in September. Baudouin, who has been analysed by Saussure, has set himself the goal of combining Freud and Coué!
I gave a lecture on Symbolism this week before the Tooting Neurological Society, the staff of the only remaining War Shock hospital. They are all in various stages of assimilating Psa, the most advanced being Miller2, of course a Jew.
I should like to extend the question I put last time about the abstracting of the literature (à propos Tannenbaum), especially as there seems to be some divergences between the practice of the Z and J. I review all books sent in, out of consideration for the publishers, and also those for which I ask (on Psa), but I had not thought of abstracting articles unless they dealt, in whatever fashion, with Psa. On the contrary some of the recent numbers of the Z resemble rather a Zentralblatt für Psychiatrie. How far afield should we go in such matters? My own view is that we should aim at completeness as a Zentralblatt für Psa, so that readers could be sure that nothing on this subject escaped us.
The University of London, in combination with the Jewish Historical Society, has arranged a series of lectures on five Jewish philosophers, Philo, Maimonides, Spinoza, Freud, and Einstein. The one on Freud is to be given by Israel Levine3, lecturer on philosophy at Exeter, and he has sent me in advance his MS for correction. I enclose the syllabus for circulation.4
