Dear Friends:
My best congratulations on the opening of the Vienna Clinic. We shall be most interested to hear of its progress. It can have no better model than Berlin.
Frau Dr Zarchi2 called on me today. She had practised Psa in Kieff and has now passed her medical qualifying examinations in England. She wishes to regain contact with Psa, to be properly analysed herself, etc. Could Eitingon, whom she mentioned, tell my anything further about her. The British Association plan is postponed until next year, for which I am not so sorry. Last week I lectured before the Croyden Natural History and Scientific Society with an audience of over 400, the last reserved seats being sold out a fortnight before. A sign of the interest taken in Psa.
I have just seen the Report of the last N.Y. Society meeting, where Oberndorf, Blumgart, etc, gave an account of their experiences in Vienna. The meeting passed a resolution that no laymen should practise psa, so the influence of Vienna and London in this respect has quickly vanished in the native air of N.Y.
In Part I of the Journal there is an opportunity for orientation about Kempf3, who is hailed as the leading analyst in America. It is an interesting diagnosis.
Budapest. I am sending you, my dear Ferenczi, via Berlin a note which will specially interest you.
Berlin. 17 British members are coming to the Congress, including Rivers. Levine, who gave the Historical lecture on Freud, is writing to you to know if he can attend any lectures in the vacation. He seems to be a trustworthy person, though imperfectly oriented as yet.
Paper has now been sent you from Vienna. We heard from Hattingberg and answered him appropriately. As to the question you raised about discussions at the Congress, I am in favour of allowing exceptions, provided
