Dear Friends:
Only from Berlin has a Rundbrief arrived. I cordially agree with the proposals in it to accept Fräulein Anna as full member, to invite Brill to the next meeting, and to send our letters once a month.
The chief news from here is the publication last month of Vol. I and II of Freud's Collected Papers (Early-Clinical, and Technique). The next volume, with the five Case Histories, appears in March, and the final one next September. No reviews have yet appeared. A propos reviews, I should like to ask what arrangements are being made for the reviews of the recent books by Abraham, Ferenczi, and Rank; I wish for closer collaboration between the Z and J, in this and other matters.
Our Society is active, in attendance, discussion, etc. Last month I read a paper on Mother-Right, explaining this as one of the institutions designed to guard against incest.2 Two anthropologists present as guests supported the explanation, Malinowski and Seligman (the latter ist Prof. of Anthropology at the University of London and President of the Royal Anthropological Institute).3 Last week Seligman read a paper before the British Psychol. Soc., with an attendance of 120, on the unconscious in savages, quite in a psa sense; the discussion proceeded along modern lines. Recently Miss Searl read a paper before our society on the problem of dealing with the Oedipus age in children.4 The discussion opened so many practical and theoretical questions that it was decided to organise a symposium on the subject for Jan. 7. Tomorrow Rickman reads a paper on psa and psychiatry before the Medical Section of the Brit. Psychol. Soc.
