In this paper the thesis is advanced that Bion's thinking is complicated in such a way as to arouse difficulties in people who approach it for the first time, and even be judged not in agreement with Freud's thinking, therefore heterodox as regards psychoanalysis.
For this reason, Bion had and still has many enemies, both outside and inside the psychoanalytic field. The thesis maintains on the contrary that Bion is perfectly in tune with the psychoanalytic theory, especially with Freud's thinking.
In order to prove this, it is necessary to carry out a genetic reconstruction of Bion's psychoanalytic culture, considering its many heterogeneous pre-conditions.
The first one regards the fact that Bion spent the first eight years of his life in contact with Indian culture, by which he was inspired to mysticism, transcendence and derived a marked sensitivity towards poetry. In his adult life, the knowledge of occidental mystics, chiefly of St. John of the Cross, and of universal poetry worked together to vitalize this cultural root.
The second pre-condition regards psychoanalysis, which Bion experienced at a Freudian level with Rickman, and at the so called developed one with M. Klein. He succeeded in the difficult task of hybridizing «symbiotically» these two ways of doing and conceiving psychoanalysis, and gave to the latter the strict scientific structure that had been impressed by Freud on the discipline which he had
