About a year ago the “Fondazione Eugenio Gaddini” Association was formed in Rome.
A group of his friends, including both analysts and non-analysts, thought such an association might help to preserve for posterity the important scientific work he carried out, and to encourage others to build on the foundations of his thought, particularly his work on the basic organisation of the mind and early mental processes.
The main aim of the Association is to encourage psychoanalytic research and to promote meetings and discussions at both national and international level, following the guidelines that Gaddini laid down about the thoroughness of research, about its value as experience related directly to psychoanalytic work and thought, about its autonomy and its international horizons.
The Association comprises founder, honorary, full and contributing members, and since March 1988 its offices have been situated in the Istituto Gramsci, via del Conservatorio 55, Rome.
A library will be set up here, where the public will have free access to Gaddini's works.
Under the presidency of Adriano Giannotti the Manaing Board has during the past year seen to the legal side of founding the Association, found its offices, and welcomed a fair number of Italian and foreign analysts.
