Some of the main themes of Gaddini's thought are proposed: body-mind-body relationship, imitation, metapsychological status of aggressiveness and destructiveness, psychological birth, space, time. Gaddini's research is inseparable from his method, which through analytical experience and clinical theory, searches for a theory of mental functioning. If the close internal dialogue with Freud is always present, if Winnicott's intuitions are the background against which Gaddini's research breathes, Gaddini seems to have a profound implicit link with the thought of Bion, the author to whom he dedicates three articles. Bion pursues his own, too rapid, intuitive processes, yet the power of emotion and intuition is investigated through a rigorous method that aims at a maximum of representative abstraction. This very method of research, which holds together the deepest emotions and the highest level of abstraction seems to fascinate Gaddini and bring him closer to Bion.
