This paper is focused on changes in psychoanalysis from a different angle, namely, looking at that which has really not changed as much as we seem to like to believe: psychoanalytic concepts. The author presents what has become one of the best and most cited concepts in psychoanalysis nowadays: projective identification. Altruistic surrender, identification with the aggressor, putting passive into active are different ways of understanding and explaining what Kleinians mean by projective identification. Today, we have different ways to understanding - both in theory and in clinical practice - the biography and the vicissitudes of our concepts.
