The Myth of Samson is analyzed as a cautionary tale about the destructive consequences of believing that one's special endowments create invincibility. Samson's heroic and destructive fate is examined first in reference to David Grossman's book Lion's Honey (2005). His catastrophic demise and resurrection is then explored as a signifier of the biblical injunctions to worship the abiding and ultimate power of God lest one succumb to the hubris of narcissistic self-inflation and be punished for this transgression against belief that all life and death issues from the deity.
