This crossword puzzle (“Trans by Association”), which is accompanied by a theoretical explanation of the word game’s process and content (“Potential Games”), is an attempt to address the prompt of cis-teria experientially by inviting the reader/participant to re-associate in order to complete the puzzle provided. The activity draws on Winnicottian notions of play and Lacan’s symbolic order to assist the reader in accessing the unknowns of gender in a potentiated space that is less terror-inducing, and perhaps more fun.
