Until now, the Scandinavian Psychoanalytic Review has maintained the policy of only publishing papers of Scandinavian analysts or candidates, and of publishing papers of non-Scandinavian authors only in those cases where in one way or another, the authors had some connection with the Scandinavian Psychoanalytic Societies. Following the increased geographical distribution of our journal, we have now also received papers from non-Scandinavian colleagues. To date, we have not accepted these papers, irrespective of their quality. However, we have realized that this policy is not fully justified and by publishing Professor Rafael Lopez' paper, we have hereby modified our policy slightly. Nevertheless, we will continue our former policy as a broad main guideline.
In the Book Section, we have also made an exception, as in reviewing the book of Smith and Danielson, we have had to ask for expert assistance outside our own circles. We thank docent Westerlundh very much for his help.
From the start of the Journal, it has been our hope that the Review would stimulate candidates to write papers on psychoanalysis. However, it is seldom that we receive manuscripts from candidates and we are therefore happy to publish a paper in this issue by dr. Bent Rosenbaum, which paper is unfortunately inspired by a tragic event.
