Child psychoanalysis in Finland has been an active field of work for the past many years. A number of child psychoanalysts have collected together their knowledge and experiences in a textbook about psychotherapy for children. The book was first published in Finland in 1986. It has now been translated into Swedish by Barbara von Schoultz. It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to read such a thorough presentation. If there is not as yet any English translation, then I hope that one will appear shortly, so that non-Finnish and-Swedish speaking people can acquaint themselves with its contents. Despite its title Psychotherapy for Children, the book is even of interest for psychoanalysts who wish to read a basic and thorough discussion of the prerequisites for child psychoanalytic treatment.
