Our dear colleague Anders Zachrisson died 29. March 2024, 80 years old. Anders was born in Sweden and grew up on a farm, a background that perhaps helped him see both the whole picture and the simple, concrete details - and certainly the essential. In some ways he may be likened to a dedicated gardener; his legacy comprises many plants with robust seeds.
He himself chose academia and in 1972 Anders came to the University of Oslo with a licentiate in philosophy on unconscious mechanisms in perception from Lund University in Sweden. For 50 years he made an invaluable contribution as a supervisor, teacher and examinera at the Clinic for Dynamic Psychotherapy, the Department of Psychology. With his extraordinary power of thought and clarity and his warm, containing form he was highly appreciated by students and colleagues. He has formed countless cohorts of psychologists.
In 1981 Anders became a clinical specialist and in 1989 a specialist in clinical psychology with intensive psychotherapy. Approved psychoanalyst in the same year, training analyst in 1995 and child and youth analyst in 2001. He ran an independent practice from 1984.
As a psychoanalyst Anders sought, in the tradition of Harald Schjelderup, to anchor psychoanalysis as a scientific discipline. In the Norwegian Psychoanalytic Association and - Institute he contributed at various levels and is remembered as a wise and engaging teacher, training analyst and supervisor. In an important period from 2002-2006, Anders was president of the Norwegian Psychoanalytic Association and participated in a decisive reorganization of the association. Till the end of his life he was an important mentor in the ongoing work to further develop the association, always with input for reflection - not infrequently with his famous quotes or with reference to his dear wife Elisabeth.
The Norwegian Psychoanalytic Association has received condolences expressing sorrow and los
