Dr. Albert J. Solnit, A.Psa.A. Representative to the Joint Commission on Mental Health of Children, reported to Council on the meeting of the Commission which took place at the Hotel Shoreham, Washington, D. C., on Jan. 21-22, 1968. Definition and clarification were sought about the focus and latitude of the Joint Commissions work. The need for clinical resources for children suffering from psychologic disorders was stressed.
Dr. Solnit, in his address to the session, cautioned that “the standards of clinical care not be downgraded” by the need “to mobilize more care for more children” and that needs not be confused with resources.
The meeting afforded a wide variety of organizations and professions interested in the mental health of children, the opportunity to express their opinions about these problems. A report of this meeting will be made available for future legislative planning and programs.
