Responding to a suggestion made by the National Candidates Council (NCC), the APsaA has agreed to appoint candidates to a number of its standing committees — the Committees on Program, Arrangements and the Newsletter. (The term “candidate” has long been the preferred designation for students at psychoanalytic institutes.)
The inclusion of candidates in national committees represents a completely new departure in Association affairs. It means that for the first time candidates will participate in the preparation of the scientific programs at the two national meetings of the APsaA, will take a hand in arranging those meetings, and will have a voice on the Editorial Staff of the Newsletter.
Association President Solnit has already announced the appointment of Dr. Marvin Margolis, of Detroit, to the staff of the Newsletter, Dr. Margolis's name having been proposed by the NCC. He will function as a regular member of the Editorial Staff, with special responsibility for a “Candidates Section,” which is now planned as a regular feature of the Newsletter. The first “Candidates Section” will be found on page 5 of the present issue.
