The Freud Statue Committee, which had been chaired by the late Dr. D. W. Winnicott of London, has succeeded in its difficult project of raising funds for the erection of a statue of Sigmund Freud in London. The statue, executed by the sculptor Oscar Nemon, was erected in the Fall of 1970. Miss Anna Freud spoke at the brief unveiling ceremony. She expressed her pleasure that the statue is placed at Swiss Cottage, near the Maresfield Gardens home which was her father's last residence and where she still lives.
The statue, which ultimately cost about $25,000, was financed by contributions from individuals and groups all over the world. A great many contributions came from individual psychoanalysts and psychoanalytic societies in the United States.
