To the Editor of the Newsletter:
The question has been raised by many people about what benefit there is in joining the APsaA insofar as credentials are concerned. It seems to me that it is important for such individuals to know that the Association is, in fact, a membership organization of certified psychoanalysts. I quote from the membership certificate issued by the Association: “…M.D., having been certified by the Board on Professional Standards as having met the established requirements for the practice of psychoanalysis, has been elected as an active member of this Association.” There is at present no other similar national certifying body. This point has been implicit far too long. I hope that the Newsletter can take the necessary steps to make this explicit.
