Abstracts of the first twenty-five volumes of the Psychoanalytic Study of the Child have been completed, and members of the APsaA will receive complimentary copies of the publication from the National Clearinghouse for Mental Health Information (NCMHI) of the NIMH, according to a report from Dr. George Klumpner, Chairman of the Committee on Indexing.
The project is another product of the collaboration between the Committee on Indexing and the NCMHI, a collaboration which first resulted in the publication of the Abstracts of the Standard Edition of Freud. Arrangements for the distribution of the Study of the Child abstracts were made by Dr. Klumpner and Mrs. Carrie Lee Rothgeb, Editor of the Abstracts.
The enormous task of segmenting all the articles in Volumes I to XXV of the Study of the Child into small subdivisions was accomplished by Drs. Bernard D. Fine of New York and Dr. Burton N. Wixen of Los Angeles. The segments were abstracted by the NCMHI, and the abstracts were reviewed by a group of psychoanalysts and candidates recruited by Dr. Klumpner's committee.
The production and publication of these Abstracts, like the Abstracts of the Standard Edition, are part of a project in information storage and retrieval.
