The Anna Freud Foundation, a non-profit, tax-exempt trust, was founded some two decades ago for the primary purpose of raising funds in this country for the Hampstead Child-Therapy Course and Clinic in London. Established by Anna Freud in 1951, the Clinic has developed from a modest beginning into a multi-faceted institution, providing clinical and therapeutic services to children and adolescents; serving as a training center in child analysis for students from all over the world; and carrying on manifold research projects. One of the unique features of the Clinic is the fact that about 60 children are in psychoanalytic treatment; another is the system of indexing of clinical material, which provides access to the study of case histories with a minimum of time and effort. A “well-baby” clinic, a nursery school, and an educational unit for blind children are an integral part of the clinical, training, and research activities at Hampstead.
The annual budget of the Hampstead Child-Therapy Course and Clinic is about $275,000, three-quarters of which is raised in this country. Since its inception, Miss Freud has served as the Clinic's director without compensation.
Contributions are deductible for income tax purposes, and may be sent to The Anna Freud Foundation, 300 Central Park W., N. Y. 10024.
