Candidates should be encouraged to join the American and should receive meaningful representation, including the vote.
Candidates should serve on all committees of both Board and Council.
We support the concept of separation of scientific and professional functions of the American from its certifying ones.
Until the separation occurs, a period of intensive effort should be made to upgrade those institutes thought deficient. Institutes should be accredited rather than individuals.
The current application procedure should be built into the training process. Candidates could then prepare summaries acceptable to both the Institute and the American, rather than one form for the Institute and another for the American.

We feel that an effort should be made by the American to encourage local analytic institutes and societies to promote public education about psychoanalysis. The A.Psa.A. can undertake such an effort at the national level.
As a result of the joint efforts of the A.Psa.A. Committee on Insurance for Members and the officers of CAPE, the Frenkel Company has extended its professional liability coverage to include Affiliate Members.
