The 65th Annual Meeting of the A.Psa.A. will be held in Baltimore, Maryland on May 5-10, 1976. The Association has not met in Baltimore since it was founded there in the Stafford Hotel on May 9, 1911. These meetings will afford an opportunity for analysts and their guests from other parts of the country to visit special Bicentennial Year exhibits in Philadelphia and Washington, as well as in Baltimore, before the summer crowds take over.
The Committee on History and Archives has announced that an exhibit will be mounted in the Peabody Library in Baltimore during the
month of May. It will contain materials documenting the history of psychoanalysis in America, with particular emphasis on the organizational history of the American Psychoanalytic Association. Dr. William G. Niederland is preparing a special section on Psychoanalytic Views of America. Dr. Zelda Teplitz is working on a section on Psychoanalysis in the Arts, Music and Literature. The Peabody Library, adjacent to the Peabody Conservatory of Music, occupies a landmark architectural jewel a century old with an invaluable collection of 250,000 volumes.
The Baltimore-D.C. Society reception for members of the Association will be held on Saturday, May 8th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Peabody Library, and in the nearby Garrett-Jacobs mansion—now the Engineer's Center—a showcase of the Victorian era. Both the library and the mansion face Mount Vernon Place, at whose center rises a majestic monument to George Washington, the first one erected in the United States.
The Stafford Hotel also faces the monument grounds and will be the location of a ceremony dedicating a bronze tablet marking the site of the founding of the Association.
